Default Can't put any gas in

Hello All,
I have been slowly trying to sort out an evap problem, code pulled was a large leak. No big deal, ran fine, just the annoying light. But today I went to gas the car up and when I took the gas cap off there was a whooshing sound and I can only put in about 15 cents worth at a time before it overflows and a new code PO433 If I can remember right, for purge control circuit.....
Any thought?

You have the EGR vent valve stuck closed. It is near the right rear vent box, mounted to the plate behind the spare tire well. That is where it was mounted on my 99 convertible. Since all the venting in the rear goes through this valve, it will cause the woosh noise you described, and not being able to refuel. I learned this through personal experience. Check your fuel tank also, because with that valve stuck closed a huge vacuum will build up in the tank, and it may collapse. I had to reinflate mine a little through the fuel filler, or buy another tank. If you need to reinflate the tank, go in small stages, so you don't split a seam. VWs had this problem in the 1st generation Golfs......Hope this helps......Be cool......Mike

mrplow58, are you talking about the canister close valve that exhaust to the atmosphere?

Hi.....I don't know what they call it, if I went by, ALL Data DIY(which I would never recommend, unless you are scared to change a spare tire)..... If you go by the repair manual CD, that I bought for $20 on Ebay, the factory calls it the Evap Emission Cannister Vent Valve Solenoid. In any case Jaguar said it is not made anymore, and nothing has been made to replace it. I picked up a new one on Ebay(like that is a surprise)for $75. A number of them will work. Some are connected directly to the cannister, and some are inline, attached with clamps. They all use the same 2 wire plug, and as long as they open and close, things are Jake. If you want to drive your car while waiting for the part, you can disconnect the hose, but the check engine light will come on, and the codes will need to be cleared after the repair is completed. You will just be hunted down like a dog, by environmentalists driving their Hemi Chargers......Hope this helps. You can also get a catalog from SNG Barret, but it will cost a wee bit more......Take care.....Mike
