Default Can't start

I have a 2003 xk8 that when I went to start this morning the key will not even turn in the cylinder. Battery is good always on a tender. Drove the car two days ago and all was good. It's like the car is in anti theft mode. Any help would be appreciated.

The first step is to ensure that your gearshift selector is securely in the Park position....

The second step is to jiggle the steering wheel slightly while turning the key....

The third step is to lubricate your ignition switch by coating your key with powdered graphite, then insert and remove your key multiple times before attempting to turn it....

Rotating the key is sometimes difficult when the steering lock is engaged. You might have to try and rotate the steering wheel a bit (with some effort) to release the pressure on the cylinder as you rotate the ignition key at the same time. Other option is to try another key, in the off chance there is some damage to the cut area, somehow.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

Thanks for the replies. Issue has been resolved. I think it was a combination of not being all the way in park and the steering wheel lock up. Jiggled both and now works.

Default Glad it worked out and now go out and enjoy the car

Wish everything was as simple as your two little things which caused the problem.

Now give the car a good run as a reward
