Cat rotted out on right side
So i started getting an exhaust leak on my 97 xk8 the other week and crawled under and found that my catalytic converter has a hole at the mounting bracket. If i had a lift i would try brazing it since they’re cast iron, but I cant get in to do it on the ground. Ive called a couple shops and i usually get something to the effect of “dont know nuthin about Jaguar exhaust, and doubt it can be fixed". Of course i got the same thing when i called to have my A/C looked at the other year. As if Jaguar devised some super secret air conditioning system smh. Oh well. Has anyone had any luck repairing the cats?
I have holes in both my cats, but they have been like that for over a year. It doesn't effect performance and it passes the MOT every year so far. When I feel like it I will put new cats on as you can buy them new. You could try welding them up but it will likely get holes in every year. https://www.cats2u.co.uk/jaguar/7747...converter.html
Ive looked at a few of the aftermarket ones, and i did lool at those after watching the "To the garage" video. Unfortunately being in the US, it makes them cost more lol. I know it will fail my yearly inspection, because I cant have leaks in the exhaust. I have a used set, but kinda afraid they arent much better. Really debating trying to convince the wife again that i REALLY need a lift lol. That would be the best way for me lol

I'd give JB Weld a go to patch it up, if that is feasible/accessible.
Ive thought the same thing smh. I had thought to try epoxy putty, but figured if it didn't work, it would be one more thing to have to fight with to do a proper repair.
I did a repair on a silencer using high temperature sealant. I tack welded a piece of steel over the hole in a couple of places and went round the edges with the sealant. That was 5 years ago and still fine now.
It seems very common online at least. Int he UK I can take my Jag anywhere and they will do anything I need them to. It's just a car o different to any other really.
