CD Player "NO DISK" Fixed RESOLVED
A thanks to the forum for helping me fix my CD player. Like many others reported here, it starting displaying the message NO DISK when I tried to operate it. Removal and insertion of the disk carrier did not help.
A brief search brought up a couple of threads on the subject, in the end I followed the advice of those who described just "nudging" the little gear to restore operation. Ultimately, it took a number of attempts with a screwdriver blade poking into the gears, but in the end that's all it took. After it was running again, I applied a very sparing amount of silicone spray onto the little gear and the sliding mechanism.
Just because I didn't find any relevant pictures, and the link to the video that supposedly showed all wasn't obvious to me either, I thought I would offer these photos to any others that might follow.
Thanks again for the help!

Audio stack removed from the car

Upside down, showing small screws that need to be removed to gain access by removing the top cover (one under the tape).

After removing CD unit from the stack, the top cover can be removed. This shows the large gear wheel on the left that turns to pull out the CD carrier from the cartridge. When a new cartridge is installed the unit will pull out each carrier, checking to see which hold a CD. In the failed mode, no motion at all can be see by this mechanism, apart from the whole going up and down at each CD position.

Close up of the small gear wheel. For whatever reason, this is the one that requires a small nudge to start moving again. Once moving, appears to stay operable.

I will try this on my '03. I haven't used the CD player since I've owned it. This might be why. I guess I've just been enjoying the ride and with the top down you can't hear much anyway.
After that I'll look into why I've lost my rear speakers. Thanks for the info. TM
