Chk Oil Pressue then Engine Stalled - How bad is it?
My car is sitting on the side of the road as I write this. AAA has been called to tow it to a garage where I hope they can fix it.
I was driving down the road and the check oil pressure light came on. Now, I'm use to being able to ignore these messages until I can at least get home and ask my husband about them, so I continued to drive it for maybe at the most 5 miles. Then I started hearing a noise and the engine stalled. I pulled off of the road and tried to restart the car but it would not start.
My husband checked the oil when he came to pick me up and found there was no oil!
I'm praying this won't be expensive because we are fixing to go on vacation.
What's up with my car?
( I've already made a snide remark to my husband about there being no oil in it )

There are 2 things to pull over and shut the engine down NOW and they are low oil pressure and Engine overtemp.
I have replaced dozens of engines and most people say "I only needed to get just 1 more mile"
Sounds like a good used engine is probably needed at this time.
P.S. This is the XJ sedan forum and you have a 2001 XKR as your forum name.
They are basically the same drivetrain for the XJ and XK.

Re: My Jag
Yes, I'm going to have to have an engine. I posted this in the wrong place, sorry. That's why I couldn't find it when looking for it. I'm worried that the insurance company is going to total it.
Thanks for you reply.
If anyone knows how to move this to the right spot. Feel Free.

Sparkenzap, I don't know how to PM you so if you could me, I would appreciate it.
I'm waiting to hear from the insurance co. I do not want them to total my car. I talked to the mechanic and he said they had that happen with his wife's beamer and they bought it back and had it fixed and came out alright. My car had 50,000 miles on it. It's in great shape and I'm not ready to live without it. The mechanic (sure there must be a better word for him ) said he found one with 93,000 miles on it and it was the only one out there. I went looking and found one with 15,000 so that is going to be my first choice if I can get it.
My first jag I totaled in less than a year of having it. I hit water in the road when it had been raining and hydroplaned down an embankment and slid up underneath a bunch of brush.
I hope the Lord isn't telling me I don't need my jags. But I'm starting to think He is.
Maybe I just love them too much.
