cleaned throttle body now Codes!
..my car was running perfect with no lights and codes...it was time for a tuneup so i started with looking to see if the throttle body was dirty..it was alittle so i sprayed some throttle body cleaner in there let it soak for 1 min, sprayed alittle more and all looking very clean so i buttoned hear up waited an hour and started her..it now runs rough and has a red light with limited performance on the dash...pulled codes(high end reader) and got p1226 and a description..does that mean a very small amount of throttle body cleaner ruined my throttle body and now i need a new one????

The P1226 is an unusual code that apparently applies only to early, '96-'98 cars and is associated with the Throttle Body.
Here is a link to an earlier discussion but it does not provide a clear answer: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...lt-code-27747/

Try a hard reset and see if it clears.
The mechanical guard is explained in this document:http://www.thejagwrangler.com/upload...c_throttle.pdf

As has already been stated, code P1226 applies only to early XK8's. Here is the list of possible causes (see middle column):
It's some coincidence to develop a harness or sensor fault just after cleaning the TB. Assuming no physical damage to the guard spring during cleaning, probably you've been a bit over enthusiastic with spraying the cleaner.
A hard reset may clear the code. If not it will have to be cleared with a scantool.
