Question Clearing/reseting airbag codes?

Hi. I have a 1998 XK8 coupe US model. I'm getting an airbag flash code of 5-2. The check engine light is not on and there are no other trouble codes. That flash code works out to be an issue with the passenger seat belt switch. However, there is no passenger seat belt switch on my car. Shows right on the wiring diagram that it is not used, not withstanding that I pulled out the seat to make sure.

Anyway, I little more googling and it seems that this flash code might also be linked to the module being without power for an extended period of time. The car did sit, unpowered, for awhile. I have since been driving it for months and the charging system is working fine. The battery is fully charged. The airbag fuse is not blown.

So, is there a way for me to clear the code? My local mechanic had a go at it, but his diagnostic tool could not connect to the correct module. I called the dealership and they said my car is too old for them to read the codes.

I'm wondering if there is a way for my local mechanic to make this work. Admittedly, I don't think he's worked on a Jaguar before. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person around with one. He has both a Bosch and an Autel diagnostic tools. Does anyone know if either of these tools will connect to the necessary module? I'm thinking that perhaps he need some sort of additional hardware/software to make it work? If anyone here has some experience using either of these tools, maybe some insight on how to make this work, if possible?

Thanks,
Ethan

Somebody else will know when this changed, but the early cars airbag control module is completely separate to the rest of the car's electronics and has a separate data line at the OBD port - in other words your standard OBD readers etc won't be able to connect to it, only the original Jaguar diagnostic hardware/software will work. Maybe you can find a Jaguar specialist who has the original diagnostic equipment that will connect.

Have you tried a "hard" reset (i.e. disconnect the battery and short the battery cables together)? If all else fails you could try finding a replacement module and swap it.

Yeah, it is looking like I need to find an older scanner. I haven't tried the hard reset.
