Convertible question
As the hydraulic pump is electrically driven, with the car engine off, the power comes direct from the battery. This source is less powerful than the engine’s generator/alternator so using the battery would put less pressure in the hydraulic fluid, so it’s marginally less likely to cause leaks. There’s not much in it.
If this is the principle concern there’s a simple cheap electrical resistor fix (check out Rev Sam’s great video) that will do the same trick.
Bear in mind all hydraulics parts age, not just hoses, ie gaskets, seals etc. In the extreme heat of the Middle East, we have to service the hydraulic fluid more frequently as it tends to gum up.
