Default Convertible roof liner hand grip plug thing.

Hi,
In the convertible roof liner of my XK8 is a handgrip hole. This hole is forward, near the mirror. It has nothing in it and is just an empty hole with no plug, for want of a better word. The headliner is getting a little frayed and I'm a bit worried about this ending up as a headliner problem sooner rather than later.
I've been through the parts manual and can't find a part number or even a mention of this item. My friendly local Jag dealer tells me that the piece I'm missing was never sold as a separate item but came included in a headliner replacement kit, which is now no longer available.
Has anybody got any ideas as to what this missing piece is called or where I might get one?
Thanks!!

I'm not sure what you call it either but ... check out jaguarheaven.com, send them your photo. I'm pretty sure they'll be able to hook you up.

I never thought there was a finishing piece for the hole...

No, there wasn't. Maybe on later models? I am planning on making one this winter, but first I have to build a new router table, which comes after refinishing the drivers seat in my XK8.

Default Checked mine out - different from yours.

Now I understand why you are looking for a finisher. I took a look at mine and realized it is "finished" using a second piece of material to line the inside of the hole. It is sewed to the liner using a right-side to right-side double hem, giving it a nice finished look.

I can't say for sure if mine is an OEM liner but given its appearance (some of the usual staining from the foam liner in the back) I'd bet it is.

I know this doesn't help you find a finishing piece, but ... it might give you another idea to improve its appearance.

I don't imagine you are asking about the little hole near the handgrip where the allen wrench goes? That is the only hole that has a finishing piece (small plastic plug).

All the OEM and the aftermarket handgrips that I have seen the sewn finished edges as in the photo posted by beg3yrs. It seems plausible that some of the earliest cars had a plastic finisher, but I am not sure. In any event, I think replacements will all have sewn pockets.
