Default Convertible Top Cleaner

I'm having a tuff time cleaning an algae/tree sap stains that I've ignore for awhile. Gave the Ragg Topp 2 tries with some success but good enough. I received a telephone response for a representative from Ragg Topp and he directed me to the Haartz site for the information below. I plan to try it this weekend and post back results. Thought others may be intrested

"For more stubborn cases, mix a solution of no more than 1/2 cup (4oz., / 120ml) standard household bleach (3-8% Sodium Hypochlorite solution...Clorox/Dan Klorix brand or similar) and 1/4 cup (2oz. / 60ml) RAGGTOPP Cleaner per gallon (3.8 liter) of water, soak for approximately 20 minutes and scrub lightly as indicated above. (Excessive soaking with the bleach solution can deteriorate seam threads.) Rinse thoroughly to prevent streaking on painted and chrome surfaces. Several cleanings may be necessary."

I'd be very gentle with a bleach solution for obvious reasons. Certainly try it on a small area first to check for discoloration.

There are also some "re-color" products out there that might mask it. One or two threads on the forums where someone tried this with success.

I concur. Bleach can indeed clean, but it can destroy older fabric and threads very quickly if you get too aggressive with it. Be careful out there....

The solution worked find but I figured I really had a another primary problem to deal with also. For the last year I have been using Maguire's Ultimate Car Wash with Wax. I believe the wax has bonded over the stains. I washed the top with a strong solution of Dawn twice and repeated one more stain solution wash. Plus some good old fashion sun and heat to dry in between. I was relatively satisfied with the results. There is slight staining left but I went ahead with 2 good coats of Ragg Topp protectant. I'll follow up with in the coming months with another deep cleaning. I'm hoping there will be some residual cleaning solution left in the fabric to further destroy the stains plus good southern sunny days. I will try to upload a before and after picture. I have another message in to Ragg Topp rep to see his thoughts on my findings.
