The entire thing is 5 and ⅛ inches in length, and 3 and ¾ inches in width. The rectangular holes, 3 of them, are 0.75 and 0.375 inches. I asked a few guys in a tech forum who are CAD savvy and they are going to take a crack at it. I still have the old one in my possession. It's held by three torx screws to the Jag's roof. It seems the first p.o. tried changing the bulbs and had a hard time separating the roof console from the bracket, and broke it at the two front rectangular holes, the ones that face the windshield, he also managed to break the one clip on the rear one, the one that faces the back of the car. I guess he couldn't source one. His solution was to JBweld a clothes hanger to the sides and rear of the roof console. and suspend the roof overhead console from the inside of the headliner.
After carefully removing his mess, and disconnecting 4 wires, 2 for the map lights, 2 for the homelink, I then unscrewed the old bracket. Unlike the bracket for the convertible, the one for the coupe has a couple metal slats, where two wire connectors for the homelink slide into. Those connectors are very hard to remove from the old bracket. I ended up ripping the metal slats from the old bracket to be able to fit a flat head under the connector to release them the slats. Now it was time to install the new bracket. First I screwed it to the roof, it uses three torx screws, but I'm not sure what the size is. Then, I slid the connectors for the homelink onto the metal tabs on the new bracket, and then connected the wires. Then I connect the wires for the map lights. I ripped out one two of the clothes hanger sections the p.o. had used, but kept the third one since he also broke the clip that extended from the console plastic. I carefully looped the coat hanger around the bracket's plastic for the rearmost clip, and then carefully aligned the front two clips with those on the bracket and gently pushed up. Job done.
My car also needs one of these brackets. I currently supply Jaguar with another part that I had made and am trying to convince them there is a demand for this one (HJA2068AC). Whilst, there are not as many coupes in North America, they were sold in larger numbers in other countries so worldwide demand for this part ought to make it viable. Could it end up being a $50 part? Yes, perhaps depending on the projected sales versus tooling costs.
The sample I have is very badly damaged so if anyone has a better one that will at least give my mold maker accurate dimensions to work with I would be interested.
It seems that the plastic gets brittle as they age with the heat from the roof. Do you have the skills to build one now?
I don’t have access to CAD nor a 3D printer. I can’t really do much other than attempt to remove the one I have, pray that it doesn’t break and take better measurements.
Don't touch yours, it will break if you try to remove the light, eventually it will break on its own from the heat. I had this happen to me on two coupes I have owned. I have engineered a workaround to keep the light attached to the roof with a pair of metal brackets. I don't have the skills to produce the part but it will probably be good to find a way to make a replacement.
I have a coupe and the mounting bracket for my roof console broke at some point. My roof console is hanging from the front bit. According to SNG Baratt's catalogue, this is my part #: HJA2068AC.
However, I can't for the life of me find any place that sells it or has any in stock. Most sites claim the part is either on backorder, or discontinued, with no mention of it being superseded by another part.
Was it superseded by another part? Is there a solution or do I have to keep driving with the roof console resting on the rearview mirror?
had a friend make me a billet bracket. Find a machinist to match the plastic original.
Yes but that bracket is for the convertible Jaguar XK8 only. The coupe has a different, bigger bracket that is almost impossible to find in good condition and is no longer being manufactured. The convertible bracket can still be found on eBay for about $12. I am going to try to make a bracket myself either out of aluminum or 3D printing.
I experienced this same problem with my coupe. I ended up using what remained of my disentegrated plastic mount as a trace for making a new mount out of some spare aluminium I had. It was tricky to get everything to line up, but ended up working out well.
A 3D printed XK8 - XKR Coupe Roof Console Mounting Bracket hja2068ac is available
After reading the Jaguar Forum posts about the unavailable XK8 - XKR coupe roof console mounting bracket # HJA2068AC, I tried to find one with no success. Even the ones in salvage cars would break during the removal process. I removed mine and superglued the broken pieces back together
Then I sent it to a 3D scanning and printing service in NYC. The PrintAWorld shop manager, Jerry Liu was very helpful. He first had me spray paint the part with white matte so the laser scan would work better. Jerry now has the 3D model from scanning and editing to repair mine on file and he can print copies and ship them out as needed. They will cost you over 10 x what the part originally cost from Jaguar, but that's still not bad for a useable replica of an out of production and out of stock part. And you are welcome to use the scanned file from mine. By the way, classic Jaguar in Coventry told me they have no plans to do a limited production run for the part.

He also provided me a copy of the 3D scanned and edited file.
I sent printer files to an online service https://craftcloud3d.com and they made two interior pieces for under $15 shipped. Very happy with service and quality. I was given several providers to choose from. A bit of paint to make it match and installed on my car. Looks OEM now.
Recommended based on my experience. Certainly worth a look.
I reached out to Jerry at printaworld (mentioned above in this thread). He didn’t give me the file but sent me the part in a few days. It cost $100. Although the part was a perfect match to the original, it seems that the 3D printed plastic couldn’t take the heat. The rectangular holes where the metal clips fit actually warped in the heat to the extent that the console fell out again. I am going to attempt to reconstruct/fortify the warped holes with metal this weekend. I will let this thread know how it goes. Really wishing I had a CNC mill in my shop right now. A guy can dream!
Found another resource that may be helpful, for this part in particular: https://www.autoreservejaguar.com/ My local Jag specialist mechanic introduced me to their Ebay site, but they don't ship to the US from Ebay... but DO via their website.
I was able to order one (used), as they had 8 of them for the coupe models. My thinking is to reinforce it once it arrives.
