Crank sensor connector
I am trying to source the female connector on the harness to the crank position sensor in my 1998 xk8. The wiring diagram says it’s a 2 way econoseal but I guess it’s specific and I can’t find one in the right shape anywhere including Jaguar dealers.
any ideas on how I replace my broken one.

I will upload this again to see if it helps.
Can you post a picture of the connector? Always difficult to understand descriptions for things like this.
I have attached a large Motorcraft pigtail catalog. Since Ford owned Jaguar for a while most plugs are Ford based. Now what's nice about this catalog is every connector has a picture. What's bad is this is 56 pages and has hundreds if not thousands of connectors!
If you do find a match please post back to help others fighting the same problem.
Yes forget Jaguar dealers as they have no interest in you or your car. Especially an old Jaguar like you have. It's sad but true!

Jesuuuuuus, that catalogue is both a godsend and overwhelming. I'll peruse it. It would help if you could snap a picture of the one on your car to have an idea which one to look for.
I'm also searching for the one for the radiator fans assembly.
Maybe Digikey? I had good luck there to source the gold plated pins for the TPS connector fix

GB considers the 1998 MY to be AJ27 while North America considers it AJ26.
The connectors are also VERY different as are the CPS themselves.
AJ26 has 3 terminals (2 plus shield) and the AJ27 has 2.(no shield)
Please specify AJ26 or AJ27.

Yes. Remember Ford was the ONLY car company to not get a government handout. Unlike crappy Government Motors. They did what they had to do for the good of the company. So when the financial crisis hit in 2008 they sold off all the stuff they had purchased in years past. JLR, Volvo and Aston Martin as well the portion of Mazda they owned. Instead of complaining and getting a government handout.
Ford improved JLR mainly thru their massive investment in production techniques and updating the ancient factories. In fact when Ford first purchased JLR they were astounded at how backward and inefficient the entire manufacturing process was from top to bottom. So instead of jumping in with new models like they had planned they were forced to work on the basics and simple stuff like these electrical connectors. Ford really brought Jaguar manufacturing into the future at great cost. I have seen estimates that Ford in the end lost 100's of millions of dollars on the JLR purchase.
Plus after the sale Ford still contracted with JLR as a supplier for a number of years. This is also why people get confused and claim the Jaguar engine is a Ford variation of some kind. As some parts still carried the FoMoCo branding. The V-6 block was shared as was the JLR 4.0L to Lincoln 3.9L V-8. But the Ford Coyote engine shares zero parts with any Jaguar engine. The first gen Lincoln LS and Jaguar S-Type were very close under the skin but when the updated versions came out in 2003 they were much different. Of course Ford killed the LS after 2006 so no need for the Jaguar variant engine anymore either.
We are somewhat lucky this happened as it helps with the replacement parts situation. Example-I messed up the radiator drain plug on my 2014 XJR. Jaguar does NOT sell this separate and it only comes with a complete radiator! Somehow I stumbled on a Ford part and it turns out that this drain plug is not only used on many Jaguar's but millions of common Fords as well. So the plug is about $6 and easy to get. Jaguar will NEVER tell you this!
I had a 2003 Lincoln LS and that got me interested in Jaguar's a number of years ago. Mainly because Ford obsoleted so many parts us LS guys were forced to look at Jaguar for finding parts in addition the LS never got all the updates the Jaguar models did. One big one was in 2003 when Jaguar went to the 6 speed ZF transmission while the LS had to make due with the older 5 speed Ford transmission. Again by that time the LS was on the way out and winding down so no additional investment by Ford was in the budget.

Would the place to buy a crank sensor for 2005 Xk8 be a ford dealership? I had a leak in my cross pipe so I replaced that in my water pump now I’ve got a crank no start did a hard reset. Couple times charge the battery I haven’t bought a new battery yet. I’ve got it put up for the winter one guy said it could be my crank sensor. It does sound like it cranked differently, but I shut it off change the water pump and the cross pipe and then ended up with a crank no start
David,
best if you start a new thread for this as it may well turn out to be something completely different.
What does the car think is wrong? Have the DTC codes read and post them back. Don't buy any parts on spec as that can get expensive very quickly...
@Tercel I'll try to get a picture from my car if I can crawl underneath - unless you've already done so?

Agree with michaelh this is getting to be a confusing thread with multiple questions.
No. Ford will be of no help. They were a contract manufacturer for Jaguar. They did not and do not sell these parts on the side! We have had to find this out from each other.
With what you have posted without codes your just loading the parts cannon with no real hope of fixing what your problem is. We don't know that the crank sensor is bad or not? I would also read the battery voltage after the car has sat all night. Simple things first.
Next do you have spark?
Do you have fuel?
Do you have a scanner so we can see if you have any codes?

these are the error codes that came up for my 2005 XK84.2
You really must start a new thread - this has nothing to do with the OP's search for a crank sensor connector.
I really appreciate the response
