I have this model and am quite happy with it. (link contains picture of what comes in the box)

I have the same one and it's handy as it comes with a pug/terminal set that fits the Jag perfectly and can be brought up along the Battery cover joint to trunk floor level. I just open the trunk and connect it and use the other connector with the aligators for maintaining a generator battery.
I had a few electical hicupps before I got mine. No Oil pressure was one. Leaving your car sit for more than a couple of days can drop battery voltage below the threshold where the electonics work properly.

I have been using a CTEK multi XS3600 for the past 5yrs, 1st on my XJ and now on the XKR. No issues ever, connected to the battery that's hooked to the car whenever she is standing.

I have a CTEK 3600 and for the last couple of years have left it connected on "winter" setting when laid up (November - May) and have had no problems. My current battery (fitted by Jag dealer) is getting on for 5 years old now so will probably replace next year anyway. So my question is apart from the convenience of not having to reset windows/radio and heave the battery in and out is there any positive benefit for the car to leave battery connected while winter charging?
