Curious locking issue
Hello all. I've recently acquired a 2000 US spec XK8 convertible. The car came without a keyfob, but with three (!) working keys. I got a replacement 315MHz fob from the US and programmed it and it sort of works. However, when I unlock the car with the fob, only the drivers side will open. Oddly, when i use a key to unlock, both doors will open, the same when unlocking from inside, so it's not an actuator issue. Is it a standard 'feature' on US spec cars that only the drivers door will unlock with the fob and can it be removed, preferably without the aid of a Jaguar dealer?
It never occured to me to try pressing twice. It works! Everyday is a school day :-)
I am positive on my former euro spec XKR a single press unlocked all doors.
Thanks, all.

I'm sure you're right - my UK car is definitely a single press to unlock the lot.

Selecting single-stage or two-stage unlocking.
The procedure for changing from single-stage to two-stage unlocking, or vice versa, is as follows: • Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key transmitter simultaneously for four seconds.
Note: The direction indicators will flash twice to confirm the procedure was successful. To revert to the previous condition, repeat the procedure described above.
I've tried it on my XK8, but with no success. It remains resolutely Single-Stage, but maybe its different over the Pond

WDS or IDS can choose the locking configuration.
When I did a PDI at the dealer I asked the sales guy if the customer would like to choose the features that were configurable.
It was a ONE-TIME offer because the dealer would charge the minimum shop time when they wanted things changed.
They could come into the shop and we would go through the list of choices.
