Default Custom boot plinth.

Since painting my car, I've been rethinking some of my previous additions and subtractions. For one, I'm re installing my rear R spoiler so the chrome lettering and leaper won't fit any more. And since I replaced my chrome with an earlier model plain plinth, I thought I would use the J A G U A R chrome letters on it.
Ummmm, nope. They didn't fit. The plinth is concave, and the letters are flat.
S after hand sanding each letter and painstakingly applying badge tape, they fit pretty darn well. Can't wait to put on the car tomorrow.
I only hope he finishes the rear springs!! Ugh.

I got to admit, it does look rather classy and not over the top

I do now feel guilty driving around with your chrome plinth on my car!

But I also like your alternative.

Ha ha, I was always planning on doing the swap anyway! Just never thought about the letters on the plinth.
I'll admit I did regret selling for a few minutes when I saw the chrome against the new color, but this is really cool in person, and I would have painted the chrome plinth to begin with, (to look more R) then regret that too!! So we both win!!

I think Phil had his fun when the car was black. This new look is going to be pure class!

You are right. I didn't care so much since I had to repair the black but I want everything perfect with the new paint. The ONLY cunnundrum I'm having is the side markers. It's either the oval black And silver Union Jack markers of the vintage jaguar winged markers aka Aston look. Both are the bomb on the color so there's no bad choice.

I must admit that the Jaguar plinth lettering looks elegant....

Now, as others have said, leave it alone....

One of the few things I dislike about the XK8 styling is the "J A G ◉ U A R" on the boot lid. Corrected on the X-Type by 2004, never corrected on our XKs.

Definitely admire your work Phil but I do wish there were a plug-and-play option!
I'd even forgo the electronic switch to have "J A G U A R" reading correctly...

It literally wasn't hard to do. And there are tons of the older plinths out there since so many want the newer one. Luckily I was painting my car so it wasn't a big deal to match the color. I've e also seen the buttons on ebay cheap!

Oh, now I get it. Thanks. I didn't realise that the old-style plinth even fit on the later models.
Now I have some thinking to do
