Default Daytime Running lights again.

SO on the X300 in order to get them and a few extra cool features, you have to get a Body Processor Module from a Canadian-built car and just swap them out. Is this the same for the 1997 X100 Coupe and if so, does anyone know what that part number is?

If you have access to IDS, it's a programmable option:- no module change required.

If not, then pistnbroke's suggestion might be the easiest route, otherwise you need to source one that matches your body style (I can't make out if it's coupe or convertible). The part # will be on your VCATS label (probably LJA2500AH/xxx). The /xxx suffix must match that on any replacement..

This is the thread you want:-

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...lights-250108/

That has the link to the youtube video which shows you how to connect the fog lights up as daytime running lights (and Pistnbroke's mod if you are using LED headlights).

The IDS configurable option that Michaelh mentions is for the normal headlights, so take your pick if you would rather have the fogs or headlights as DRL.

Take a single pole relay normally open. Connect one side of the coil to the sidelight wiring, Connect the other to an ignition switched live in the fuse box.
Use the contacts to switch your daytime lights ..usually the fog lights having fitted led bulbs.

for the electrically ignorant the sidelights when off provide and earth for the relay coil. All complies with regulation passed many an MOT

For some reason I thought it was dipped headlights - it would be nice if someone from Canada could confirm what lights the DRL uses. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to turn it on in IDS to find out.

My US spec 2004 XK8 convertible had the control module reset to DRL as a condition of import into Canada. It runs the low beam headlights.

The 2003 onward (4.2 liter cars) can be configured with PDU/WDS/IDS but not the 4.0 cars.

Mine's a 4.0L 2000 XKR, and my local shop was able to configure it. I vaguely recall I had a choice between 2 options -- Canadian spec or Scandanavian spec -- but can't remember the difference.

Not wanting to start a controversy but why would you want DRL in Albuquerque?

I will need to try it when I get my car 'hooked-up' to IDS again.
I think I tried the X308 and did not succeed.
The difference might be JUST dip beams or ALL side lights and dip beams for the country?

WELL I'LL BE DIPPED!!!!!!!!!!
I was wrong about the PDU/WDS/IDS config for the 4.0 cars.
I just fired up the IDS and configured the DRL on my 1998 XK8 to CANADIAN and they are on all the time with key ON.
Does not matter where the headlamp switch is set. The only thing affected is the INSTPK lighting with headlamps OFF.

In UK when you turn on the sidelights the DRL have to go off . ( hence the relay with + 12v to both sides of its coil )They are usually a different lamp unit or a small bulb within the headlight cluster. Rear tail lights stay off when the DRLs are in use

have you ever driven in Albuquerque? You need every safety feature possible especially when you are on those two lane highways without shoulders

Please expand the statement above.

My US spec 2004 XK8 convertible was altered to Canadian DRL upon importing it into Canada. Now, the dash lights do not illuminate with the key in the run position/headlight switch to off. They do illuminate with the headlight switch in any other position.
I thought that the dash lights were to illuminate at any active ignition switch position, regarless of the headlight switch position. Is this untrue?

Check your dashlights dimmer knob - this controls the dash lights with the headlights on. When the headlights are off, the dashlights are on full brightness.
