Default Db9

Looking at a 05 DB9 and am wondering 2 things.

Also, thinking about a 10 XK R, but I digress.

Anybody ever drive one for an length of time?

One thing I hate about the jag is that on every turn I slide from one side to the other, so are the db9 seats as form fitting as they look?

Are there any known issues with the db9?

If you want performance get the xkr. Hands down its the better performer. I perfer the db9 styling however. Comfort is up to you either way as are aesthetics that may be pleasing to the eye. Id say the jaguar is likely more reliable as well

Default hated the car

We had a DB9 in the car club and I took it for an extended drive. It is very good looking, it is incredibly comfortable, the engine sounded wonderful, and every other car in the club pretty much walked away from me. It was horrid in corners and reminded me of a '70s era Lincoln Continental. If you are doing long straight drives or just want to be seen it is fine, if you want to drive the car like a supercar you'll be disappointed. I've never been this disappointed in a car before. Oh and it isn't the easiest thing to park but there are a lot of cars far worse.

Tempting, aren't they? Have you guys seen the values on them lately? It's a real GT car with a better exhaust note, but the XKR will be the better all-rounder, cheaper to run and insure as well. However, I have not driven or sat in one, so whatever.

I'm aiming for a 2012 XKR-S in the future.

At least you can get a standard tranny on a DB9...

randyb,
I have a 2002XKR and a 2010XKR, so I have the same seats in my 2002. The seats in the 2010XKR are very supportive and the side bolsters are adjustable to confine you as little or as much as you want. I'm 6'-2", 210-220, and I can't use the full confining mode of the side seat and back bolsters, that's how tight you can be held.

As for the DB9, I hate to be a heretic, but for me, far and away the Vantage coupe is the best looking Aston Martin, EVER! The DB9 is, again, for me, not as attractive as the 2007-2014 XK/XKR. (reminds me of a grey whale).

Performance wise, there is just no comparison. Period. 5.0L XKR surpasses every Aston V-8 or V-12. As for the great exhaust note of the Aston (which I agree is as intoxicating as a Maserati's), it is easily achievable through upgraded exhaust systems offered by many after market companies. For a couple of thousand dollars or less you can have an even better sounding exhaust.

But passion has a lot to do with how we choose cars, so if a DB9 tickles your fancy, go with your heart.
