Default Dead Peddle for XKR?

I am assuming that my 2002 XKR is like all others in that the left foot dead peddle is on the floor. This is too far down for me. I would prefer to have a dead peddle near the plane of the brake and accel peddles, just a few inches back from the hood release. Without the dead peddle for bracing, I slide around a bit much in the seats during cornering. Is there an aftermarket option for this?

Good question. My baby Growler too has no dead pedal. Seat is comfy and leg room (including lateral) quite nice for such an intimate car. But, it is strange having no real spot to brace left foot. Find myself bracing left knee against door. I'd be interested in a dead-pedal mod. Actually now that I think on it (car stored at folks' house outside the city, and tragically I've visited it just a fe days since buying it), I'm not sure there is any formal pedal there at all, just the floor

regards

david

There is another dead pedal option Jaguar offered that is adjustable. I don't know any part numbers, but maybe someone will chime in.

'Dead pedal' - is this the part you're after?

Looks to be. This can be installed in a "do no harm" fashion? My local friendly Jag dealer should be willing? There's a reason I'm an Internist, not a Surgeon

BTW, just picked up a nice book on the XK-8 written by a Graham. Wouldn't be you by chance?

I need to look at mine, I thought it was missing until I realised it was positioned for all these long legged chaps who say they don't fit in the car!

David,

Many owners remove the raised extension but it's unusual to find the entire assembly has been taken out. Here's the part numbers:

JAGUAR XK8 & XKR - Parts Manual - Adjustable Footrest.pdf

Replacement should be straighforward.

The book you have will be by Graham Robson. Former Jaguar apprentice and well respected motoring author. I wish I had even 10% of his knowledge.

These seem to be the pieces I am looking for. I'll investigate these further. Thanks!

I have the same problem and I'm not short, 5'10", but when the seat is comfortable for the break/accelerator, the dead pedal is short by several inches. I looked into these parts just after I bought my XKR and discovered they were already installed. They only make about a half inch difference, if that. I could never find an aftermarket solution and will try to make something myself; I need 3, maybe 4, inches on the dead pedal to put it in line with the other pedals. If anyone finds another solution, please post.

Same situation here. The raised peddle is installed on my XKR, but it only comes a few inches off the floor. May as well not be there as it is useless. I'm still another 4 inches or so short (yes, bring on the jokes ).

That always bothered me with mine and it is a pretty simple fix. I took a 4x4 and cut it the same length as the pedal. Painted it black after drilling two holes for the screws and it works great. Been there a few years and no issues. It sits about the same height as the brake pedal.
Thankfully I'm not a 6 footer because I'm pretty sure that is why the dead pedal is down so far.
