Default Dead stall at stop sign.

My car has shown no signs of any mechanical issues except for a few coolant systems leak issues, which has been completely replaced.
Out of the blue yesterday, on my way home as I came up to a stop sign, my car completely stalled when I came to a complete stop. No warning lights on and no ruff engine, just a stop. I put in park and it started right back up. And doesn't sem to be having any issues since. I have noticed occasionally, after driving around town and stopping, then when I get back in and start it up, it sems to idle a bit jumpy but then goes away.
Could I have inadverntly hit my ignition key with my knee and turned off car?

I'm not a mechanic and the symptoms are not conclusive to any specific problem, so it can mean several potential issues.
Check your fuel injection system
Check your spark plugs
Check your gas filter for contamination

Not saying it is this, but may be worth a look, as the above was a 2005 MY its quite shocking.

Good luck with the car.
Cheers,
ArtyH

My car is a 2002 XK8.
It's going into the body shop for a re spray and shock work done so I'll get it looked at after I get it back.
I'm also having the trans fluid changes so maybe he can do it all at once.
I was wondering if there would be a code stored for the incident if it was mechanical.

If you have a recurring condition then a code is probably stored. If it was a fleeting malfunction, then probably not. In any event the codes should be checked.

As written by Phil
Could I have inadvertently hit my ignition key with my knee and turned off car?
I have done that three times I'm also 6' 4" and my knees are real close to the ignition, I've hit the wipers numerous times.

I did this once. My sister responded with "Gian, your car's acting up. I guess it is time to junk it". I responded with "haha what? I'm keeping this car until I die. Besides, my knee hit the key by accident."

This happened to me, and I'm a pretty short fellah.

I realized today that I must have hit the seat position memory 2 while I was covering my inserts. My knees were a bit higher and I did it again! My knee hits the fob and turns off the car!! Ugh.

Hmmmm...I don't know. Anything is possible, I suppose, but the knee theory sounds a bit unlikely to me.

I'm still having it checked when it goes in for some transmission work. (New fluid, gasket, etc. )
But when I did it in my driveway, as I got out of the car, I started checking and found the seat was further up. I did feel my knee hit the key.

When my car did the exact same thing I found that the throttlebody needed cleaned at the butterfly. After removing the black "coke" ring it never did it again.
