Deadlock - Avail on 1998 US version?
The other day I disarmed the car with my arms full. I managed to push a combination of buttons on my remote that seems to have deadlocked the car. I could not open the driver's door, even from inside (the roof was down).
I had to climb in over the door, the alarm went off and I had to turn ignition on to disarm it. Of course as the alarm is screaming and you're in the middle of a crowded parking lot, I really don't remember how or when I got the driver's door to work.
This was probably just some glitch, but that sure was weird. I have read about deadlock in 1996 cars - push lock within 3 seconds of setting the alarm, but I wanted to ask if you knew of any way to set it on a 1998 XK8 USA configuration? I don't think so, but I wanted to ask. Was deadlock an option or a feature on all cars?
Thanks,

Thanks,
It's in the Hand-over Video, UK version. Don't know about US. Two pushes of the LOCK on the remote will engage deadlock. Normal unlocking should have worked from the outside with the door key or the remote though. The alarm sounds with the door key but will silence once the key is in the ignition and turned to Position 2.
I've always wondered this as well. As far as I am aware, no U.S. cars have this feature, but it always intrigued me.
From the JTIS
Key OperationTo 'single action' lock or unlock the vehicle, the key is inserted in the door lock, turned towards the front or rear of the vehicle respectively, and released. Holding the key in the lock position will close all windows, and on convertible models, will also raise the top. Releasing the key stops all operations. 'Single action' locking of the vehicle locks both doors, the trunk lid and the fuel filler flap, and sets the alarm system.A 'superlocking' function deadlocks both doors, preventing door opening from the interior, and provides all of the above functions. To raise the convertible top however, the key must again be held in the 'lock' position. To 'superlock' the vehicle, the key is inserted in the door lock and turned to the unlock position, then within three seconds, turned to the lock position and released.
I suspect this is to prevent someone opening the doors with the top down and car locked.
