Disabling auto lock.
I have an '03 XK8. I hate auto lock and want to turn it off. Some cars I've owned allowed a programming fix to put auto lock to sleep 
. Do I have such an option?

Do you mean drive-away locking or locking at a set period after the vehicle is parked?
Either or both options (whichever is available on US spec) are dealer configurable. Only available as owner configurable on the later 2006 onwards XK/XKR model.

WDS, IDS type diagnostic machines can 'enable/disable' features on your car.
They are found in DEALER OPTIONS in the Vehicle Config tab.
Some other diagnostic computers might perform this function.
It is listed as a CONVENIENCE FEATURE.
