Default Door hard to close

I've just picked up my XKR - in superb condition but the passenger door seems ‘sprung’ – it’s a devil of a job to close as if it has run out of hinge movement. I can’t see any signs of an accident but the only time I’ve felt this before was when someone left the door open and reversed into something.
Further investigation - it's because the automatic window lowering isn't working properly. If I pull the door handle it lowers but as soon as I release the handle to shut the door the window goes fully up and bounces off the seals. What needs to be done?

Steve,

Great looking colour combination.

Sounds as if the glass is fouling on the top seal as you try to close the door.

Simplest thing first - try resetting the window travel limits. In the car with the doors closed, lower the window on the switch and hold the switch until you hear a click. Raise it and keep the switch depressed until you hear another click.

Thanks, that's the problem. No interior lights or 'passenger door open' message.
Found the video. Thanks again - the colour mix is lovely particularly as the OO paid extra for a black soft top.
Nearly worked out what all the buttons do but there ain't 'alf a lot of them.
Completely lost it on black ice coming off a roundabout this morning but it produced a lot of grunts and squeaks and straightened itself out with the help of some opposite lock.
I'm in love!

This is not a process to remove the latch but will help to see the relays involved. Jaguar Door Latch Repair XK8 What I did find in the process of my evaluation of the switch was that it seemed to operate a little sluggish. I used a little WD40 and it freed it up and worked well. If it were me I would try a little WD40 before I pull the panel and the switch. I also have a link for the switch on my page if you need it. I hope this helps.

Gus, Thanks a bunch. I was thinking of a WD40 blitz and will try that tomorrow morning through the front of the latch. Will let you know if it works.
