I want to get at my speakers, so I need to know how to take the panel off or can I just remove the cloth piece?

You may not need to remove the door panel to get to the speaker. There was a very good post by H20Boy about window adjustments:

In that post were 2 little known useful pieces of information. Namely that the 2 most needed adjustment screws were accessible without having to remove the panel. One of the screws is under the puddle lamp at the rear of the door and the other is near the speaker at the front of the door. In the referenced post it is pointed out that the speaker cover can be removed by undoing two screws at the bottom of the cover and then wiggling the cover out. You might see if this is actually the case before removing the entire panel.
