Drop her top with your remote control...you know you want to!!!
When I hit the buttons on the remote, my front windows raise, then they drop about an inch, then the top comes up, then the front windows close fully.
I think it happens that way because the way the module interfaces with the car. It's simulating the door key operation. On my car I can roll up the windows with the key in the door. Holding the key to the lock position first causes the windows to raise. If I continue to hold it, it then causes the top to raise, and a part of the raise sequence is for the windows to drop slightly. Maybe they changed the sequence for the 2004 model year. I'm not quite sure. But as long as the windows are down at least an inch when the top closes there shouldn't be a problem.

I am pretty sure the programmed sequence was changed sometime in 2004. I do not know if if was at the the beginning of the model year, or during the model year.
As said above, it does not impact the remote top operation at all.

The 2004+ sequence actually makes more sense, because if you think about it, who would want to raise their windows with the key but leave the top down? On the other hand, some people might want to raise the top with the key to keep the sun off of the seats, but leave the windows down. It makes sense to have the top go up before the windows.
Had mine installed on Saturday. It's the coolest thing. Hit the remote in the house and the top is down when I get to my car. After taking off the boot cover I hit the remote and walk away from my car like James Bond or somebody as the top is closing. How cool is that?
Oooh! Even better, next time I get my hair cut I'll park right in front and drop the top as I'm paying. The lady who cuts my hair is gorgeous and she likes to flirt. She'll be totally impressed by my remote control convertible top.
Oh... but then she'll laugh as my car cranks for 10 seconds before finally starting.
I still haven't worked up the energy to pull out the fuel tank to replace the pump. I need to get that fixed before I get another haircut.

I installed mine last weekend,
Here's the video. It's a long video, and I didn't break anything or hurt myself, so it's not very funny. Sorry. However, this is my first HD video. To watch it in HD click on the little icon down below the picture.

WhiteXKR - Really really cool upgrade that looks to be well manufactured and put together....Kudos to you.
I have one of WhiteXKR's modules in my '04, it's great! My car's an early '04 and it works the same way as yours, Sam. The windows come up and drop an inch, the top raises and latches, and then the windows close all the way.
I still have a problem, however, because my windows appear to be way out of alignment. All the weatherstripping is split.

yah, the weatherstripping just one day decides to drop a chunk here and there, very frustrating. I've lost a piece on my passenger side, about to lose another chunky over there too. I'm moisturizing them twice a year now, trying to make them last longer, at $125 a pop, thats pricey for a 6-inch rubber.
Last night was the public premiere of my new remote control convertible top! My wife and I went to see the "Cowboys and Aliens" movie. I was looking forward to hitting the buttons on the remote and having the top close behind me while I casually walked away without even looking back. We drove right past the line of people in front of the theater and everyone was gawking at my car. It was freshly washed and sparkling in the lights from the marquee. There was actually an end spot available, so I took that and got out of the car to remove the cover. My wife popped the clip on her side of the car so I didn't have to walk around, then I rolled it up and placed it in the trunk. As my wife came over to walk with me to the theater, I hit the buttons and started walking away. I could hear the windows moving, so I knew it was working without even looking back. Then my wife said "Aren't you going to put up the top?" I told her that it was going up, so she stopped to watch it. Everyone in the line was looking at us. I told her "It's going to close, don't worry about it, let's go!" but she wanted to stand there and make sure it closed all the way. It did, of course, but I didn't get to look like James Bond.
Women... I swear.
Women... I swear.
Mine arrived in the UK on Saturday and was fitted the same day.
I could not be happier.
Everone agrees its cool
except my wife and my daughter!!
I took it to a regional Jaguar Enthusiasts Club event today and I must have had to give details of the website to almost every XK8/R cabrio owner there. Plus I have posted it on the clubs XK8 bulletin board. So whiteXKR may have to increase production ....sorry Steve.... but its far too good a modification to keep a secret.
regards

BTW, I have given up on the wife and daughter ever thinking anything I do is cool.
Sounds like the next manufacturing run is ramping up just in time:

Thanks to Sam's video and Steve's RTC module with good instructions, I got this done today on my wife's XKR. I had one plastic holder on the small speaker break, and one on the door card. Neither has caused a problem, and both still fit snug. I also lost one end of the small red posi-tap. After a half hour of searching, I found it in the middle under the car
. All told, it took me 4 hours to do. Now, it would take about 2 hours, maybe less.
My wife had to drive the 4x4 Dodge Diesel today. She likes being up in the air. I hope she likes to drop her top.

I'm not going to touch that, BUT
I also installed this product this afternoon. It took about 3 hours. The instructions and product are first class. One of the best aftermarket products I have installed. Great Job WhiteXKR, we all owe you one. I am now going to enjoy a well deserved evening.

Thanks to the kind assistance from smoggyX100 in the UK, I just posted fully illustrated instructions for Right Hand Drive vehicles on my website.
I now have full coverage in the instructions of all model years and Left and Right hand drive XK8 and XKRs.
Still haven't figured out how to drop the top on the coupes yet though
