Default DTC Code reads "NA"

Hi guys. 2003 XKR with rebuilt 4.2. Check engine light on. When I use my scanner come up with "NA 01/02". I know 01/02 is for two times running. What does the NA indicate? The gentleman I bought it from stated it had a bad O2 sensor but I would think that would show up (No code for that only the NA and typical P1000). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried taking it to one af the auto parts stores offering free scans. I would try a different scanner. Sounds like something is communicating with yours.

N/A normally means Normally Aspirated?

It could also mean North America?

NA in English is usually Not Applicable so your scanner is suggesting Not Applicable to 2001/02 MY.

You have a CEL so there must be code(s). As has been suggested, try a different code reader / scantool. It's likely the one you're using isn't compatible.

If you have (or anyone reading this) Android phone get the Torque Pro app from the app store and from Ebay an ELM327 blue tooth reader. They you can read your codes on ANY OBDII car. The app is pretty handy. Costs about 10 bucks or so to get these things.

Not sure what scanner you are using but ensure it's set for at least ISO-9141 and CAN protocols

+1 to the Elm 327 / TorquePro approach.

This will only read Powertrain (Pxxxx) codes but is as much as is needed for most faults which will trigger the MIL (CEL).

I'm 2000 miles from home at the moment and that's all I'm carrying with me reasoning that if it's anything more complicated goes wrong, I'll not be fixing it at the roadside!

Default Update

Took the car to my mechanic. His $2000 code reader stated P1646 Linear O2 Sensor Control Chip (Bank 1)
