As soon as I connect the battery I have some dash lights in with the key on the off position. Some electrics work apart from windows
wipers
Starter
Light switch
Alarm
Key fob
All the key does is turn the ignition on with no response to the above. Tried hard reset but no joy. Tried pairing the fobs but no response as full beam is not responding so will not pair. When you try to start the engine you only get a solenoid click no more. I was wondering if it is a transponder issue? As nothing will pair? Really frustrating and hard to detect a fault. No fault codes showing and battery is showing 12.6 volts. Really odd when the key is not in the ignition the headlights are on along with dash being activated?
What year is your car? Is it coupé or convertible?
Fobs won't pair because the programming sequence starts with ignition off.
You need to track down why the ignition won't switch off. Perhaps a sticky or faulty ignition switch? You can try squirting some graphite powder in and working the key a few times.
If that doesn't help, then disconnect the switch:- there's a connector under the lower part of the steering column trim. There's a pic of it in this post from JayJagJay; https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...7/#post2472611
edit: I see from your other post it is a 98MY
