Default Emergency Access to Hood,Trunk Poll

Howdy Folks:
Without disclosing any of your "secrets", I am curious to know of those who have rigged an alternative access to opening their hood (bonnet) / trunk (boot) lids.
In my case, I can mechanically, by just using my hands, open my trunk in <10 seconds or my hood in <60 seconds. I am not bragging, but just thinking that I am not the only one.
Thanks for sharing.

On the XK8 you can unlock the trunk with the key inserted in the hole on the XK8 badge located on the rear?

My thoughts exactly, but of course that does require the key, or at least the valet key. If there is some secret key portal for the hood I'm not aware of it.

Hello Graham:
After over 300 views, I wondered about that myself. I thought that maybe I should have added an option to vote something like: "That is my business".
I have had trunk access for several years, and it is completely reversible. I also at that time, could not come up with a completely reversible solution for the hood. That bugged me for the longest, and finally earlier this year, I came up with a solution that was as stealth as my antenna switch. Both of my lids operate as they should, but I like the security of just knowing that I have a quick way out instead of the likes of holes behind the license plate, going through the taillight, or through the front fender liners. (I have used my trunk method at least a half dozen times for various reasons including closing my keys in the trunk and access to battery tender)
I was thinking that even if one did not want to vote, that they would share their thoughts in the poll replies.
I agree that if to be redone, I would go with an ordinary thread.
Thanks to all that have viewed or replied.

I thought the valet key won't open the trunk?

I have no idea of how to run "keyless". I handled the hood an trunk mechanically, but some years ago (someone correct me if I am wrong), Steve -Jagwrangler-WhiteXKR envisioned electronic trunk access via simply pressing the button on the trunk with a password.

that must be similar to what Ford had a few years ago for door entry, there were 5 buttons adjacent to the door handle numbered 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, & 9-0. you entered a 4 or 5 digit code for the door to unlock. Still had to have a key to start the car though.

Yes Steve and I talked about this and he put it on his list of things to do but to date I haven't seen it. I would suggest asking him about it.

It would be interesting to see some of the solutions that have been used.

Astromorg:
Thanks for the link. It is probably the one that I remembered concerning Steve's password.
I had done my trunk fix about 20 months prior to your post. Although your method exposes the "orange lever" and is a completely different approach than mine, they have the exact same end result.
It is well worth saying again that anyone who gets anywhere near that " orange lever" should heed your

HOW? I've locked my ONLY key in trunk with car in VALET mode. Watched COUNTLESS videos of people suggesting the "secret" key hole which is of no use when there is no key and obviously the release button is disabled. So as the top is down and storms a'rollin in we have drilled quite the collection of holes behind the license plate to no avail. Locksmith wants $450 and dealer quotes a 2 week wait. ANY HELP ON ACCESSING TRUNK would be appreciated
