Engine light on
My wife filled her XK8 up this afternoon, ARCO gas, then went to the store. When she went to start the car, it ran a few feet and died out, making a rumbling noise.
When she tried to start it again, it behaved like it had a dead battery. She then got it started and got home.
Battery tested fine and is now running great, but engine light is still on.
Question:
1. Could bad gas have caused this ?
2. Could it be a bad gas cap, causing loss of vacuum ?
3. Is there a way to re-set the engine light if nothing is wrong?
Thanks for any insight

Read the codes. Don't reset until you have the actual numbers. Places like AutoZone will do it free but plan to get a cheap OBD tool as it'll be soooo useful over the next 10 years. Consider an elm327 probably bluetooth version - see thread in General Tech about OBD tools if you want more ideas.
it may well just be fake codes due to battery but at least keep a note of whatever codes are in there.
