Default Engine & transmission removal??

Need to remove the engine and transmission from my 97 XK8; need advice on how to remove them...should I remove the engine first or remove them as an assembly.
Thanks

Provided you have the facilities to cope with the weight, it's much easier and quicker to remove the engine and transmission as a unit.

The way we always did it at the dealer was to remove the front subframe, engine and gearbox as a unit. We had 2 rolling tables about 24" tall and lowered the car onto the tables to set the front suspension and powertrain. The engine and gearbox were separated and the tables rolled apart.

The engine was lifted and replaced. the tables rolled together and the car lowered to install.

Fastest and least damaging way I know how.

I have done this with 2 hydraulic tables but they are at the MAX weight capacity.

Hydraulic Lift Table - 500 Lb. Capacity

Without a lift you need to find alternate methods.
