Default Extra Spare Tire Partition

I store a good bit to tools etc under the spare tire cover. My problem has been stuff falling over in the battery area when I remove the battery cover. This is my rainy day project. The tire holds the 1/4" masonite partition upright.

cool I put a Masonite 'floor' on top of the spare tire basically is the 'lowered' position for the regular trunk/boot floor. Then I have a flat space between the two floors to store stuff

I was wondering what you would use that space for.

Spare tire, we don't need no stinkin spare tire! Living on Maui I'm never more than a few miles from home so I took mine out for more trunk space during the weekly Costco run.

That's about the only time I get to drive her anyway. Poor kitty, reduced to a grocery getter.

What's the highest speed limit in Maui? 45 mph?

55 mph between 3 different roads only totals about 30 miles all together.

I was REALLY starting to turn a shade of jealous green. Then I read ..... 55 mph speed limit!

The Planets have re-aligned and I'm happy again. Paradise is still a German Autobahn (with NO speed limit) on a cool and cloudy day.

I stuffed the void above the fake spare tire with an old car cover from a long gone Peugeot 505 wagon, just to support the cover. I did that because the first time I went wine tasting in my XK8, the weight of several full cases of wine on that cover revealed that the rim of the spare tire well is not enough support. The cover got pushed down into the well and wedged there. I had a hell of a time prying it out.

I keep one of the freebie Harbor Freight plastic waterproof tarps folded up and placed directly over that area. It is a perfect size and thickness to spread enough support distribution across the trunk hatch whenever anything relatively heavy is placed on top of it....

Puerto Rico gives you plenty of places with the speed limit at 65 mph, the unofficial speed limit in some places is 75 and the cops don't pull you over until about 80 mph. We don't have volcanos, but we have beautiful beaches, summer 365 days a year, and a dying economy.

Small paradise here, half of the 12.000 km are limited.

But we are still in the EU and Donald is far away.

(Wrote this with a slight shame-reddish face,
enjoying the summer in Spain.)
