I have a 2000 XK8 convertible and new to All things Jaguar.
My quest is to get the factory fitted Motorola phone operational. Fitting a new transceiver got the handset to light up, but still struggling with getting my O2 and vodaphone SIMS to register. My current issue is finding the blooming telephone antenna on the car. Wiring diagrams say it’s in the right side of the boot ( trunk) but can’t see it. Anyone got any location shots or can tell me where to look. Just need to take a look to rule it out as a issue.

JTIS says the same for mine, but it's actually tucked under the LHS of the rear bumper. Worth a check even though your car is newer. It makes some sense since it's not as shielded by the bodywork metal:
Is the phone control module really in the boot? Seems an odd place so far from the audio head unit.
ok my question - even if the phone was functional, will it still truly work with today's advanced networks and protocols? So curious as to why even try
Mine does:- the 900MHz (US is 850MHz) band is still widely used. Big plus is no Facebook
Motorola StarTAC ST 130 or the fixed Motorola M8989?
I had the StarTAC in my 2000 X308. Just used to leave the unit in the car and transfer my more modern Nokia to it when driving. Only a "Jaguar" branded StarTAC would integrate with the car controls. They had bespoke software missing from the standard version.
Motorola StarTAC ST 130 or the fixed Motorola M8989?
Even older. It's the Motorola 8700 (LNC7311AB).
The PO had lost the handset, so I bought a NOS 130 and the matching cradle with a view to an 'upgrade'. I never managed to get it to work properly with the PSE so gave up and found a NOS Jaguar 8700.
Old hat, but it does give full integration, as you say.
Both of these are genuine Jaguar, but it is possible to clone them.
replaced the antenna at in the rear bumper( fender) NOS from eBay (£20). The phone now picks up a signal and the Vodafone sim now registers. Unfortunately still unable to make or receive calls as Vodafone tells me my SIM is defective.... new one inbound.
Having received a new Vodafone SIM and plugging it into the handset, (then speaking to Vodafone to register it).... Its finally working, and both made and received calls on the move.
so to recap,
Started off with a completely dead phone.
Changed out the transceiver (behind the rear seats), phone lit up but no connection.
Changed out the antenna (under rear bumper left hand side).........
All good
thank you all for the advice and guidance
