Default Fault messages on a 97 XK8

Hello all , as a new member I have my first problem to report . I have owned my 97 XK8 coupe and use it as a weekend fun car with the occasional commute , current mileage shows 95000. Up until recently there have been no issues with the car and it has performed very well in all aspects, however ,m I am now getting two fault messages , firstly an intermittant "Gearbox overheating" which has appeared occasionally at random over the last month or so . Secondly , and over the last couple of weeks a "Suspension fault" message which first appeared when I had to brake suddenly but now wont go away . I have tried disconnecting the battery for a couple of days and I have checked all of the connections that I can get to easily but to no avail . My questions are , could these two message events be connected and, regarding the suspension message , my car has the optional CATS suspension , If I disconnect the module in the boot(trunk) will this rid me of the message? (I understand that the shocks will default to firm on disconnection)Any thoughts , suggestions or advice most welcome . Thanks in advance

Glyn,

I've moved this question from your Intro thread to XK8/XKR forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

I'm not familiar with the faults you mentioned. In any case, pull the OBD codes and let members here help you out.

Yes, try unplugging the module.
