Default Finally my 03, XK8

I will make this brief. I finally talked my wife into allowing me to get a dually pick up truck. So there I am online looking for a truck and I came across this XK8 and I had to have it. My wife thought it was not practical being that I have a BMW 745i and she maybe right, but the car lured me in and I couldn't resist. I've always thought that the Jag Xk8 coupe was the hottest car on the road and that includes the new XK's. I have owned a lot of nice cars, but this is by far the hottest and coolest car I have ever owned. I'm in LOVE.

Congratulations and welcome to the club. Can't haul much stuff in your Jag, but you will have a great time.

Welcome aboard! I love dark coupes on Apollo wheels... looks more sporting than my XKR! Agreed that you can't haul a whole lot, but it's still a pretty handy car and you'll enjoy driving it far more. It is a proper GT and indeed one of the most beautiful cars on the road today. Still.

Welcome to the forum Kimokimara.

Congratulations on the XK8. It looks superb. Can't see you regretting not getting the truck anytime soon.

Nice looking car, hope the wife is not too upset. She may want it for herself in time though.

Enjoy and welcome to the forum.

Mike,
This is not entirely true, a Jag can haul a great deal of ***.

I once hauled 18 bottles of champagne, 40 bottles of wine and 80 beers in the trunk. Just the regular afternoon shopping.

Lichtenstein>Limousin easy half day drive.
I'll sharpen the bottle opener and get in some cheese.

I stand corrected! Well done, sir!

For the size car these are, the trunks are relatively large- surprisingly so on the convertible too. Gotta love that long deck.

A Jag and a van is the perfect combination for the man about town, IMHO.

I feel the same. I remember when Jaguar first unveiled the XK8, I wanted one so badly, but wouldn't have been able to pull off the price tag.

I'm glad that these cars appreciated they way they have because I finally bought that XK8... and fell in love with it so much I had to have an 05 XKR. It's been almost 2 years since I bought my XKR and the honeymoon period really isn't over. I've never loved a car as much as my XKR.

Grats on your new Jaguar!

Agreed 100%. I have owned about 30 cars, new and used, but I have never 'loved' a car as much as I do my XKR. I suspect that all these little jobs we have to do on them to keep them on the road actually help forge a relationship you don't necessarily get with more modern cars.

And here too (except for the 30, and mine's an XK8). Most of my reasons are intangables, just how the car makes me feel. But one very practical thing: these are by far the best seats I have ever had. And that includes a couple of roadsters from Stuttgart.

Very few cars have had such an emotional hold on me as my XK8 (another was an E-type). Makes me feel better every time I drive it.

And I hate to admit this, but sometimes I feel a little lost when there isn't something to fix or adjust. Luckily, this doesn't last too long.

I am glad to see that I am not the only one. My wife keeps telling me that I am acting like a kid on Christmas morning and that it's only a car. And my response to her is, "the fact that you say that, displays to me that you just don't understand the bond that I have with this car in short period of time." The reality of it, is that I'm not joking when I say that. My favorite vehicle use to be a 2005 Hummer H2, but that was before the Jag seduced me. I'm going driving!!!
