Default Finding a coil pack....

I need to get my car back on the road as soon as possible and trying to find a place to buy a coil pack quickly, locally if possible. Does any one have experience with NAPA, Advance Auto, Auto Zone or ? I could order from Amazon, but they carry so many brands at so many price points and I have no idea what's good and what isn't. Any success with a particular brand ? My fall back (gasp, choke) is to go to the local Jaguar dealer. I could also see if I could match one up at a Lincoln dealer (for a 3.9l LS unit).

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Max, I'm mot sure the high degree of caution is warranted. Are they all super expensive and I don't realize?

If reasonably priced, what's making you uncomfortable just grabbing low hanging fruit so you get back on the road?

if I am missing something let me know but this doesn't look like an item that would have huge swings in quality (longevity probably but that's irrelevant at an affordable price combined with need to get her running asap), or noticeable performance differences .

let us know, John

Rock Auto has them for a good price. If you are worried about quality they have NGK among other brands

NAPA stocked the Denso units under the Echlin store brand in stock for my 00 XKR. I bought one to get me back on the road once. I also later bought a $100 8-pack of mystery brand coils on eBay from China 3-4 years ago and they've all been great.

Max224,
I doubt that any you buy from a known auto parts house would not do the job, but just for suggestion sake, I've purchased a complete set of 8 for my S-Type at O'Reileys Auto Parts and have no complaints. Remember in China, the Jaguar is available and coils made there should not be a problem. I doubt you can find "Made in USA", and if it be known, the one's you would buy from the Jag Dealer, are more then likely made in China, regardless of what the name is on the one's they sell. Course they would never say so.

Cheers

Thanks everyone,

I ended up going on Amazon and buying one that will probably turn out to be okay, at least in the short run. It should be here on Saturday and I'll install it and see if it cures the problem (misfire with code P0304 indicating cylinder # 4). My cam cover breather fitting was cracked so I'm changing the cover at the same time. With any luck, I'll be back on the road with the XK8 and ready to tackle the issues with the X-Type Estate Wagon. Two Jags - twice as much fun!

Default coil pack

I have half a dozen new coil packs for a 2000 XK8. Let me know if I can help.

Not to hijack this thread but are the coils for the XKR/XK8 the same as the X308? Being the same engine?

Also, I've had good luck with cheap "no name" eBay coils for under $20 use each when I had to replace a few in my VDP.
I would just purchase whatever is in your budget, frankly they will all perform well enough to keep you on the road for some time.
