First in a line of stupid, probably easily answered questions
OK. I just bought a used 2006 XKR last week. Problem is it didn't come with any of the manuals. I can't find the handbook for this year's model online. I have a few probably stupid questions that have been bugging me. I appreciate your indulgence.
Question 1.
I was sitting aat a light the other day and setting my radio presets (see how new this casr is to me?) when i noticed that my side mirros(both) had moved to a closed position. I distinctly recall tat they had been out previously. I'm not sure when they had moved in,I just know I didn't see them do it. How do I control them moving in or out? If I did something to make them fold in, i didn't realize what I had done.
thanks.

That's pretty neat and exclusive as I do not believe the powerfold feature came on many of these cars. I was mildly interested in installing these for my 2005 XKR but the cost of doing so just did not seem worth it to me. You should be able to download all the manuals that originally came with your car from Jaguar's website (the link might be listed in the FAQ section).

I've gone to the Jag website and the manual for the 2006 XK is not there. I think there's one that says its for the 2006, but when you loko at it more closely, it's clearly for the 2007. There's bits and pieces there from different years but not an all inclusive list of the XK models. Anyone every bought a PDF owner's manual on ebay?

The reason you did not get a manual is that the previous owner intended to sell it on eBay. Check there and you might be able to buy it back. After a quick look here is an '07 set.

Congrats on your new car! On 06 models (manufactured in 05) power fold mirrors are activated by pressing the mirror adjustment knob straight back (towards you when seated) while the selector switch is in the middle, neutral position (no mirror selected) I believe this feature only operates at low speed. To return them to the regular position press the mirror adjustment knob straight back again. I have to admit that I had the car a year before I knew it had the power folding mirrors, and I am the original owner! DOH!

Besides the manuals, the other oft ripped off accessory, usually at car auctions is the spare key/fob. These are commonly found on Ebay and command on average about $40.
Although it would be extreme odds, I guess it is not impossible to actually buy your own spare key/fob on Ebay, better than the alternative at the dealer priced at a few hundred to as much as $500 for the newer smart key....which is an oxymoron.

One other way that cars come on the market without all the keys are impulse purchases. An owner takes a drive to tire kick, then can't live without the new model they are looking at... they are talked in to taking their beautiful new car home that night and there you go, one set of keys and fob. The manuals are sitting right where the owner last had them, on their desk! The other keys are in their spare key drawer, purse, key hook, but not in the saleman's hand!
The owner gets home... several days later they find the said keys and manual and just decide to forget about it.
As to the manuals, you can find bits and pieces on jaguarusa.com under owner support. They seem to only post the manuals that must be unique for a given year as you may find the drivers manual for a '06, but the entertainment manual for the '04. That must mean that there weren't any changes to the entertainment, but the drivers manual had some updates?! Maybe emailing or calling Jaguar, you can get them to provide PDF's of all manuals that would have been in the glove box at time of purchase!
As to the keys, you have to get them from Jaguar, but you can purchase a FOB on fleabay and program it so that you still do have one alternate means of entering the vehicle when you look the keys in the trunk!

By the way, My wife's XJ8L only had one key, and Mr. Jaguar nicked me for $425 to make a new one, including a programmed fob. The price you pay for being a sport.

NO KIDDING!!! I had no idea about this feature, and I do have the manual (and all three keys, too). Must not have read that part of the book. I'll have to test it out when I get home. (Rain forecast today, so I'm driving the Maz.)

Dang. I have one black key, 2 valet (green) keys and one key fob. I'm using the green key with the key fob. Gave the wife the black key. Strangely, the 3rd valet key will do everything (open door, truck and door activate the conv top) but NOT start the car. What's up with that?
