Default Flappy de flap flap

If you have an XK8 Convert and like to cruise around with the top down, but hate the liner flap flap, here's one answer you may like.

Go to Lowes or anywhere they sell pool supplies and pool fun toys and buy one of these. Cost me about $4.29 at Lowes. It's about four feet long, so cut a 18 to 20 inch piece off and give the rest to your kids or who ever.

Put the top down and squeeze the short piece into the space between the liner and the rear seats. Wah La--Flaping stopped, or at least 90% of it. There still may be a small amount of liner at the edges that will float around and I guess you could cut a couple of real short pieces to force down that part, but for me it wasn't worth the effort for as little of the liner that still moved around some.

Once in and the drive is over, don't worry about pulling the flapper stopper out, because as you put the top back up, it just rolls out and falls in the rear seat, waiting for the next task on your next top down cruise.

Cheers

You could also try this, and keep the headliner clean to boot.....Other than the 2 pin clips on each side, I installed two snaps on the back of the seat, to keep it from getting air underneath it....Hope this helps......Mike

I may have to try this. Kids are gone and grown, so I doubt they will miss those pool toys still hanging in my garage.

I do have the OEM top cover, but am generally too lazy to put it on. Advantage 1 for the newer models with the automatic cover.

all:
Yeah, the thing is about 4", so just oversized enough to hold the liner snug. With the long haul type drive----next state to see grandma, the leather top cover is best, but takes too long to install for short Sunday drives.

Velcro works great too. Just put two strips on the back of the seat. Presto whammo, no flaps that go flappity flap.

I'm a little OCD and think the car looks a little ugly without the cover on, so unless it is a 5-minute drive...the cover is on mine

I used a strip of black pipe insulation.
