Default Flushing 2002 XKR Radiator

Hi, can anyone explain to me how to flush the radiator on my XKR? Or tell me how to find the answer on this site?

The JTIS (jaguar technical information system) CD has as specific procedure, do you have access to this program? If you do a search on the forum, we have provided links to download, and create you're own CD. You must burn the disc, it cannot run locally from the drive...that we have found, that is.

I made a pictoral guide a while back for flushing the cooling system. It was for my 2000 XKR so probably the same as yours. If you want the PDF, PM me your email.

If you choose to share it with me Dan (for others), I'll include it in our ever-expanding FAQ thread contents.

Note before you get going: On the XKR you are going to need a humongous 19mm allen wrench socket to fill the intercooler. Its about 15 bucks from McMaster -Carr:

Yes, or you think about it for a little bit and finally end up inserting the head of a 1/2" or M12 bolt into the filler cap (both just happen to be about exactly 19mm). Spin 2 nuts onto the threads of the bolt and tighten then against each other. Then just use a wrench on the lower nut to unscrew the cap. Use the wrench on the upper nut to install the cap. Total cost, maybe a coupla bucks if you don't already have a bolt and nuts in your vast supply of new and salvaged hardware that you refuse to throw away and your wife rolls her eyes at.

I'm too cheap to buy a big stupid allen wrench.

Dan's flushing procedure document has now been added and appropriately linked in the FAQ thread.

Dan, good job on this, lots of good detail and information! Love the homeade flushing apparatus.

Thanks all! I did order a JTIS off of ebay; maybe wasted some money; but saved alot of time as I am a novice at computers. I will try to download the "Dans Flushing" White Paper next.

First, it's in the FAQs. If you go to the top of this forum, it's the second thread from the top. It's a "sticky".

Then, you'll need a few more posts before you have access. Just go to the Off Topic section and make a few mindless posts in the "never-ending word game" thread, or find some hot chicks posing with cars and post the pictures in the "girls with cars" thread.

Finally, you'll need a few days on the forum to have full access to everything. In a nutshell, you need a few days, a few posts, and then you can see it all. It's to prevent spammers.

But... if you'll PM me your email address I'll email it to you.

newbie, this particular document is hosted 'off-forum' and anyone can access it. Only the images and documents that are uploaded and hosted on the jaguarforums server require proper access by members. You can see these, as they show up as an 'attachment' at the bottom of the thread. It can be linked, however, within the text.

Default Rad flush

Dan, I'm sending a big thank you your way for all the effort you put into that tutorial on rad flushing. No teacher could have done better. I wish everything that I need to do was explained so well.

Well - it is probably bad form to admit to this group that I found another way - an on-line coupon from my local dealer to do a flush, test all, and replace fluid for $100 - including all labor and Jag fluid (materials)! I took it over and asked, and sure enough it was real!!

It took about 2 hours, and cost exactly $103 (including tax!), and it is all up to Jag snuff for 5 years!... (the service tech said it was about $250 otherwise) DaleD

You're welcome RJAG!
I hope folks get the info they need from my docs and postings, as much as people have helped me over the years.

Stay tuned ... more coming.

Well, that's the least messy, and most environmentally friendly way to go about it Dale. But, you didn't get to be intimate with the engine or her 'fluids'.

Last year the dealer replaced my water-pump for the supercharger. Am I correct in thinking that would require fluid replacing also? I didn't see anything about it on the invoice and didn't think to ask at the time. Maybe they just poured the old fluid back in? I probably won't know for sure huh?
