Default Front and rear suspension rebuild

Hi All - this thread started as 'Broken J gate' and Alan tried to move it but couldn't. The J-ggate issue got resolved with a £350 new part from Jaguar I'm just mentioning it here for cross ref. as the end of that string was about where to get replacement front and rear springs - bushes etc.

So, Does anyone have any information that may help here. I purchased uprated lower springs - lower shock mount bushes, Sub frame V- mounts and the second subframe mounts - recommneded front spring mounts + a full set of front and rear powerflex bushes - From Dave Roche, so I know the parts are good. I then sent the lot to my local Jaguar independant specialist - Kingsroad Garage in Berkhamstead who actually offer the polyflex front and rear upgrade so they are experienced with XK's in this area. They gave me a quote to fit the lot, along with new rear discs and pads, set up all the stearing and suspension geometry camber and tracking etc.

Many of the fasteners were seized and unusable, so I've agreed for them to spend best part of £300 on all new fasterners from Jaguar (thought Kings Road Garage).

Is there anything about setting up a 15mm lower pollybushed suspension front and rear they could be missing? As they say it's all set up it should be but handlying is "all over the place" and they can't work out why? anyone have any thoughts that may help?

The car has aways driven fine and has not been involved in any accidents - I've had it 11 years. Second owner had no accidents and bought it from Jaguar it was first registered to Jaguar late 2003 and is a 4.2 XKR convertible with 20" wheels as standard.

If you lowered the rear, the alignment is factory set. The only way to change the rear alignment is to swap out the half shaft spacer from the 3.5 mm (PN CBC480635) to most likely the 7.5mm (PN CBC480675)

The uprated springs are only lowering 15 to 20mm I haven't seen the readings but I'm under the impression rear camber only becomes an issue 30mm plus but that only what I've read. Thanks for the heads up.

smudgersmith,
Your car has calibrated self-leveling Zenons as standard. I'm unsure, but changing the ride height may affect their aim set-up.
Be aware that if your headlights do self-adjust unfavorably, then some compensation may be necessary to both the front and rear sensor linkages.
