Should this be attempted at home? I've been told it's not so easy.

Unless you have the abs ring removal tool and a bearing press, I would have to say dont do it at home.
It is not difficult, but is complicated.

Yup, I figured as much.

And I lefttheabsring removal tool andthe bearing press at my dream garage. Oh well, off to the mechaneck.

I just changed the front bearing at the local dealership in Spain on my XK8 - there was a 'Jag kit' JLM20886 and MNC1628AA and a series of other bits and pieces - The bill was 1,117 Euros for parts + labour Total 1,633â‚¬ (Â£1,000 +) . I waited 10 weeks for the parts to arrive and the work to be completed.

Lesson to be learned - shop around...[:@]
