HavethefollowingcheckenginelightcodesP0135,P0141,P 0155,P0161,P0358,P1000. Oxygen sensors and coil. I noticed these are all on the same circuit 10 amp fuse. Have been told it is probably the fuel pump. I am going to try replacing the fuel filter. Any suggestions appreciated.
Re the P1000 code, does it show up only after manually clearing the codes to shut the check engine light off?

 

the P1000, MAY be present after a scanner clears the codes, but it actually means that there is at least one system that has not completed a full monitoring cycle in order to give it a passing grade, each system's cycle is different in terms of engine temperature, speed, length of run time, various driver inputs and behaviors, etc. Theres good info on the forums somewhere on many, if not all, of those cycles. The jaguar technician information system CD also has them if you have it. If not, definitely get it, the download for which is in our FAQ in this subforum.

 

Thanks for the reply. Re: the P1000 code, I specifically wanted to know if it only appears after someone has cleared the codes or can it appear without someone clearing the codes? I had my car serviced and after I picked it up I went about 10 miles and the check engine came on then RP. Shut it off and restarted and it was fine. Then check engine came on again. Asked the garage if they knew anything and they denied anything. I just want to make sure that they didn't reset the computer without telling me. Hope this makes sense.

oh, very true Bob. I sometimes forget of the basic causes.

 

Bear with me guys. In order for the P1000 code to appear is it necessary that someone manually clears check engine codes using a scanner or disconnecting battery, etc.. I am trying to determine if the garage that worked on my car knew the check engine light came on while it was in their shop and cleared it prior to my picking up the car.
Replaced the fuel filter this afternoon and it runs strong except the check engine is still on. Thanks for helping me work through this.

 

YES, either action bob and I mentioned above can result a P1000. However, a P1000 alone will not trigger a CEL As you know, many (almost all) repairs and mods start by disconnecting the battery, so good chance that is the reason for the P1000.

Are you saying there aren't any other codes present, cept the P1000, and you have a CEL still illuminated?

 

Refer to first post for codes. My car was running fine, took it in for new A arm bushings and rear wheel bearings (no need to disconnect batt). Car was there for a week. Picked car up and within 10 miles of driving CEL comes on then goes into RP. Shut car down waited 5 min. CEL went off. Drove a few more miles and CEL came on. Drove home with CEL on but no RP. So I am trying to find out if this is a coincidence or the shop had something to do with it. If the P1000 code only shows up if someone clears the codes manually i.e. scanner, disconnect batt, etc.. then something must have occurred while it was in the shop and they cleared the codes. If the P1000 code can occur (along with the other codes) without anyone touching it then I have no proof the shop knew anything about the CEL. I hope this makes sense.

Perhaps they left a door open and the battery ran flat. XK's don't like to see low voltages and get quite upset about it.

 

Thanks to all for taking the time to respond to my post. I have one final question. If you make a repair that should remedy the CE light, do you have to reset the computer or will the CE light go out and reset the computer by itself after the car has been driven through the required driving cycles?

Only a select number of codes will clear themselves after drive cycles are completed, but most, require the manual assistance. For instance, emissions codes - like a misfire, cat efficiency threshold, transmission error, will not clear w/o scanner help. Lean/rich conditions beyond tolerance, for instance, will clear itself (from personal experience).

 

What causes an ABS module to go bad? It's a 2001 with 23000 miles. The part number is jlm21323 or original part LNF 2210AD.
