Default Fuel Pump & Filter

I recently experienced a fuel pump failure on my 1999 XK8 and elected to replace the filter at the same time. Attached are my findings on the pump failure.

Gus, I bet when you were little you were the kid who loved dissecting the frog just to see if you could find the croaker!

How bad was it to get the pump out of the car?

Not bad just painful $650.00! I do not have the location to do it and I was pressed on another project. Sorry!

If I found an AC filter in my car, I would assume it had been replaced. Any Jag I have had since new always had filters that said Jaguar on them. Nice study, thanks for the pics.

Under normal conditions I would agree with you but what I am finding from my 1993 XJ-S, 1995 XJ6, 1999 XK8 & 2000 S-Type you will find interchangeable parts from Ford, GM, MB & Jaguar and it would not surprise me to see a few others in the mix. I guess it is out to the lowest bidder.

Default Just did mine this evening.

Not the pump, but the filter. And it said Jaguar on it, not AC. Could not tell if it was original, but it looked like it could have been. Replaced it with a Wix for about 15 bucks and thirty minutes of wrench work.

How'd you get your old filter open? Ordinary can opener? I might pull mine out of the trash and see what's in it....

I used a body saw to cut it open.

That seemed to work well.

I got one of these to open up my oil filter for inspection and avoid contaminating it with metal: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/80532...oductId=753437

Gus I opened one of my failed pumps and it looked almost identical... melted plastics and all.
