Default A fun it's not broken post. Ran SCCA autocross in the XK8

Attended the AZ SCCA autocross race. Did well as heavy as she is on street tires. Of course Mina Lowering springs, intake, muffler delete and "supreme driving skill" LOL all contributed. Wanted to understeer if you didn't drive the nose before letting off the brake mid apex. Throttle response with no muffler and the intake was very nice. Threw her around to the surprise of many "your racing that luxury touring sedan"
In the end finished mid pack but because of the upgrades had to run in Street Modified against some real race purposed cars. Was a blast and the car drew a lot of attention.

Cheers, Mike

Well good on you! Not typical AutoX fare but the super-boosted steering and actually very good turning circle on the jag probably worked in your favour! Plus AutoX is so short that the brakes getting hot wouldnt have been a problem. I've seen a boosted miata absolutely suck at autoX because it had depowered steering and the driver had to stop and do a three point turn mid-run. And you've got a coupe so less to worry about and more stiffness. Surprised you fit with a helmet on though! Im guessing you were touching the roof.

Question - what shock mounts are those you have on? Im assuming they were changed when you did the lowering springs. The ubiquitous "Wayne mounts" would be an obvious upgrade for you both for longevity, comfort and performance.

The car turned well and is very stiff., just a little heavy feel. the course is short so she never really hit the power band IMHO. Brakes were not a issue at all. I did Summit Racing mounts and wish I went the Wayne route. My head does just touch with a helmet on LOL. Not enough to be bothersome though. It was a blast.
Cheers Mike

No association just loved their gear. It is Heal and Toe apparel.
