Default Gloss black alloys

Hello all

I am considering a colour change on my alloys.

My friend has a red Civic type R with gloss black wheels and they look amazing.

I am undecided and other mates have said either ... go for it, it will look great... or..
no! You idiot you will ruin it! 😅

I just wanted the opinions of other XK owners.

Thanks guys

Smitty

IMO dark-coloured wheels look best on a light-coloured car (and vice versa), so stick with what you have. It looks fantastic anyway.

Take a side-on pic and photoshop the wheel colour of your choice, as rothwell did for giandanielxk8:

I think I just wanted something different to set mine apart. I can always have them restored to original at a later date. Maybe a mid life crisis! 🥰 you are probably right, thanks for your kind comment and feedback 👍

Thanks for this....I am still undecided and with an S1 1999 XKR originality is the key. They will only go up in value now. The S1 XK8 and XKR will become like S1 E-Types in about 10 years IMVHO.

Mine have been painted and they look ****. Too dark. Think previous owner got fed up of washing the brake dust off. Going to get resprayed silver .

I think the problem is they went with a matte black.

Smitty,

You have a Beautiful XKR! Please don't mess it up by Painting the Wheels Black! I can't think of anything worst than that! Please leave Good Enough alone! What are on it now? "Double 5's"! To each his own!

Thank you Billy... that is so kind of you to say so and I really do appreciate everybody's feedback and comments. The poll is looking in favour of originality so will probably leave her as she is. The gloss black looks fab on a modern Red Type R hot hatch but maybe not the way to go on a classic S1 XKR coupe. But those gloss black wheels look soo nice 😍 🤣👍 Thanks bud 😍👍

Hi Piston
Lovely wheels but they look more of a dark grey satin finish which does not suit the red.

What model is it? I am guessing 17 inch rims on an XK8? The original factory fitted 17s still look really nice on the early XK8's. Not a fan of 20 inch rims on the S1 models there is no need.

Best regards bud... Smitty 😀👍

Smitty!

If it was my Car..................I would make sure to change-out the Amber Corner Lights and the Amber Side-Blinker Lights's to Clear Lens and Chrome/Amber Bulbs....The Clear Markers will make it look so much better! Also, I believe they call those Wheels Double 5's or something like that.! I had a Black 2000 XKR just like yours back in the past! They are super Cars!

Another thought would be to Paint the insides of the Headlights to match the 2003-2006 Model XKR's....Gets rid of that Chrome Flash up-front! It's up to you, Smitty!

That’s a beautiful car! I don’t think you can improve it.

Gloss black wheels look great on red cars, IMHO. I am considering it for my XKR.
