Smile Good 4 pin ignition coil US source

After switching ignition coil positions OBD code still showed a fault (P035x where x is OBD cyl no.) so I needed to buy a new one.
Amazingly, Auto Zone had one in stock (about $129);even more amazing is that it's a 'Denso Made in Spain'; that's Identical to OEM is it not ?

Gaudin Jag (whom I love) had a cheaper price,:icon_badraz z: $125 w/shp and no WA State tax. But I was in a hurry, because it's Valentines Day (wife's XK8!), and it now runs great ........just in time, phew!

TTFN, Adrian

A lot of our readers will be surprised to learn how many Jag parts are avail thru AutoZone and other local parts houses. This includes complete brake system components.

Default another coil pack source

If you search "coil pack" you will find my post about what I learned about coil packs.

I found a Prenco coil pack that is available in both 2 pin and 4 pin. The cost is about $50.00 and I have one in my car that is working well. This pack is made in China but I would be surprised to find that the others aren't.

At this cost it is feasible to replace them all at once. You will see in my post that there appears to be a relationship between leaking plug tubes and failed coil packs.

I just had to replace 2 of the denso version at 65k so not overly impressed by that especially at over 2x cost.

Interesting! transmissions go at 60K and now ignition coils 65K!; wife's XK8 has 64.5K.
Glad my XK Coupe has only 32K and the E Type .......which I just sold 3K.
Will check out the Prenco's though..................

Thanks Walt, Adrian

Walt,
Just ordered a Prenco coil from Parts Geek; it's called dollar averaging! will now have a spare to carry in the XK8 tool kit.
Got to get back to adding a second backup light to my 2007 XK; got one from UK to replace the existing rear fog light................XK's come with only one BU light, daft.

Thanks for Info, Adrian

Default Not the same coil pack

The coil pack's pictured are not the same as the earlier models. The 4.0L version has a different mounting arrangement. I have no knowledge of the 4.2L ignition configuration, especially post 2006. Some caution is needed.

The early engines (AJ-26) use the 2 pin version and have a separate ignition module. The AJ-27 engine uses the 4 pin version that does not have a separate ignition module as the associated electronics are included in the coil pack.
