Has anyone been locked out of their car. 1997 Xk8
Hi all
I need some advice to open my drivers door, things I have tried are fully charged battery and a new battery in the key fob.
I have tried the key in the door and also tried using the spare key and fob.
I parked the car in the garage and dead locked it and now I just can’t get back in it.
I have also tried a coat hanger and I managed to pull the door lever but that also didn’t work, I have run out of ideas all but smashing the window.

I assume that the boot opens and locks OK with both the fob and with the key? Does the fob unlock the passenger door?
What happens when you insert the key in the drivers door lock and turn it. Is there any sound? Does that unlock the passenger door?
There are plenty of threads on various forums and even some YouTube videos about this problem.

Have you checked all of the fuses and relays you can get to related to the central locking system? The fact that neither door opens with the fob suggests an electrical problem, which could be quite separate to any mechanical issue with the drivers lock itself. Check the door locking relay as a staring point and any fuses that go with it. Get the electrical guide for your car if you don't have it.

This exact same thing happened to me once. Eventually managed to open it with the coathanger method. Believe it or not, a new battery resolved the problem, eventhough no amount of charging and jumping the old one helped.
