should I use Jaguar brand or Payen or Eurospare for 2001 xk8 NA? There seem to be some with red sealant and some with black sealant around oil passages.

 

Several members have used the 4.2 mls gaskets. You might want to do a search, or maybe someone will respond with more info.

 

I have been using the later 'multi-layer-steel' gaskets for all the replacements for 4.0 and 4.2 engines.

 

On those lesser expensive aftermarket ones, that line of red sealant is very fragile and its easy to accidentally nick it and scrape off a spot. And you won't know you did until you put it all back together, fill it with fluids and start it up.

 

Use the steel one sold for the 4.2L V8, even if you have an NA motor.

 

I am looking at the latest AJ88987 and AJ88988 and wondering if the PAYEN is the maker of the the head gaskets for Jaguar.

The Payens are definitely the better quality aftermarket gaskets. The 4.2 mls gaskets such as these will work splendidly on your 4.0.
