Default Headlight jet washer cover replacement - RESOLVED

I just got the replacement cover for my broken right side washer cover on my 2001 xkr convertible. Does anyone
know what it takes to change them out? Thought I would ask before I break something.
Thanks

You need to start to remove the headlight. Before you try that though there is a tip on here https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthre...=1#post1023627 it simply shows the nut you have to remove to get the headlight out. Hopefully, like the link, yours is missing too. Its then just a case of disconnecting the wiring, red connector at front. The U connector slides sideways and the plug disconnects, look for the two slots on the side to see which way it goes. Two screws. Then pull/jiggle the headlight forward. The washer bit is the most awkward bit. It fits underneath in a V shaped grove. You dont need to remove the headlight but if you do this photo will show you its separate https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthre...=1#post1024714

Frank,

I haven't had to replace the cover so I'll ask the dumb question.

Isn't it possible to have an assistant operate the headlamp washers and then hold the one to be repaired in the extended position whilst you fit the new cover?

Does the washer jet cover just snap off and on? there doesn't seem to be anything on the back of the cover which hooks or screws on.

If just the cover you just pull out washer manually and hold. Then snap the new one on over the ball end of the washer. A little dap of lube, vaseline, etc always helps. And if anyone else needs covers i have a few new ones. Pm me

Not sure how the pipes fix, I would guess just a push. But fixing the unit to the headlamp is quite fiddly. If you look underneath the headlamp you will see a V shaped grove underneath it slides into that. I am sure I put a picture of it on my 'Story' will take another look.

Just spotted this. Do you want to replace the chrome cover or the headlamp washer? I thought you wanted to replace the whole washer system. (my fault) If I remember right the cover just snaps on and off. The headlamp washers do not operate every time. I think its about every 8 or 9 pulls of the windscreen wash. If its just your cover that is is missing I would think the new one should just push on. Just take a look at the lugs behind the new one. My cover came off when I did the headlamp I think I just pushed it back on.

WOW how easy was THAT!!!? the old one popped off as I was trying to manually extend the washer jet. I used just a teeny swipe of vasoline
on the receptive area on back of the new one and it popped right on. Sure all my fixes were that easy. Many thanks to all of you who responded to my posts about this.
