heard bump brings restricted performance
Seems my '99 with 157,000 miles is telling me it is tired. When I hit a hard bump in a construction site it goes into restricted performance mode and lights up the engine failure light. I pull to the side of the road and restart it 3 times and the code goes away and I drive on.
Seems to be a short or loose connection issue? any idea where to start? Bad module?
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi Larueb,
I have a '99 XK8 that had a similar problem about 2 years ago. I was on my way back from Chicago to NH when I crossed a very rough Interstate/Bridge expansion joint that was less than level. The car went immediately to Safe Mode and I pulled over. Stopped and re-started. All was fine until I crossed the next rough Interstate/Bridge expansion joint. It appears Chicago has plenty of them. The same problem occurred, stop, start, reset, all set to go. Eventually, it got so bad I headed to Indianapolis and visited the dealer. Steven Perry is brilliant at the dealer in Indy. Turns out it was a mis-match between the metal in the throttle body connector. There is a Service Bullentin out on this problem. Evidently, gold is on one side of the connector and aluminum on the other. The repair took about 1 hour and everything has been fine since. I am wondering if this might be your problem.
Just an idea.
