Default Heater hose from engine connection

Removing engine from 99 xk8. I'm having trouble getting the heater hose from the engine to disconnect. I don't want to break it by doing something wrong.

You need to be a bit more specific. Hose connected where? Details man.

It's the heater feed hose from the engine. It's on the right side( passenger) at the rear of the engine below and to the right of the TB. I believe it is called a R slip connector. I'm not with the car now so I can't send a picture. I found a picture of it in the manual but couldn't find any place showing how to disconnect it. Sorry for the poor description but i'm not the best at typing. I went to school in California.

I believe you are talking about the Norma connectors. Do a search on Norma and you will see that they are problematic to get apart, but there are about a dozen workarounds. Good luck

Thanks to Rick letting me know it was called a Norma connector I was able to find ways to get it off. I was able to slide the collar back but it still didn't release. I used a little persuaton with a screwdriver and hammer and with a couple of taps it came off without damaging the connector. I wasn't crazy about the other alternative to cut it off and use hose clamps.

If it wasn't for all the imformation and the help from its members I wouldn't even be dealing with Jaguars. But now I find it an enjoyable hobby. Thanks again.

why would a good old fashion hose clamp work there instead of the fancy *** connector??

This is a link to the thread I used. Some threads mentioned that they broke the connectoror or just cut it off because they couldn't get it apart. This thread shows how someone used a piece of hose to repair the connection. If I can I like to keep things original.

I now when I took my old connector off I just took a screw driver to it to bust it off. I was not keeping it.
