Default HELP! 2001 XKR Convertible Passenger Airbag Connector - How to disconnect

I'm trying to get the passenger side airbag out of the dash. The manual says to unplug the airbag connectors. But it is not obvious how to do that. They are orange-y colored, with a yellow locking clip (I'm assuming) on top. They are made by Ford (Part number YFIT 14A464-AA). I can't find any information on these connectors, and I can't figure out how to disconnect them.

I've tried sliding the yellow clip forward (unlocked, I'm assuming). I also assume that the plug is right angle, and plugs into a socket in the airbag. But it's not coming loose no matter how much I wiggle it. And I don't want to pry it and break something. Is there a trick I'm missing?

I'll post a pic in a minute.

Frankly, I don't remember the least bit of trouble when I had to take mine out. Sorry, no help at all.

How did you do it? Slide the yellow clip and just pull it out of the airbag?

This may help

You do have the battery disconnected don't you? If not, you run the risk of being killed if the bag goes off while you disconnect/reconnect it.

Is that a locking tab arrowed in red engaged with the projection arrowed in blue?

I think you're at risk of confusing the matter. It is just slide the yellow locking bit and push in the lugs at the bottom and they come out. Am guessing the bits you've highlighted are part of the plug assembly.

Thanks woox4. That looks like the same connector. Looks like there are release clips on the sides i need to squeeze.

That did it. Super easy when you know where to squeeze.

Basically, slide back the yellow slider, then grab the connector on both side where it attaches to the airbag. You can feel the catches move when you squeeze them. Then the connector pulls right off.

Thanks for everyone's help.

FWIW the seat belt connectors work the same way.

I knew it wasn't hard, I just followed logic and did it with no more thought to it. Glad you found the trick.
